The pharmaceutical and research Cartagena Maria Cascales Narrow receive on Friday 23 April, the title favorite daughter of the city in a ceremony chaired by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, accompanied by members of the municipal corporation, and in which the honoree will be accompanied by family, friends and representatives of the organizations that joined the case to promote the appointment.
María Cascales thus joins the list of Beloved Sons who have excelled in the field of science and the humanities, as has previously been the writer or lawyer Carmen Conde Manuel Albaladejo, a title which is the highest distinction awarded by the City Council people born in Cartagena who have outstanding work beyond our borders.
Born on August 13, 1934, María Cascales was the first Spanish woman in 1987, agreed to a scientific academy, the Pharmacy, as a pioneer was also Carmen Conde, although in this case of the Royal Spanish Language Academy .
Cascales has published over 150 research papers, five books and has directed 15 doctoral theses and 13 undergraduate theses.
The ceremony for the title of Favourite Daughter will be held at 12.30 am in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall.
