The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, presented this afternoon in La Manga the device for cleaning and maintenance of beaches for the summer season.
This is the team and the machinery that until next September 30th will be working to perfect for swimming throughout the coastal area of the municipality of Cartagena, in the Mar Menor area, as in the urban area of Cala Cortina and Portus, and west of Isla Plana and La Azohía.
This device is composed of 67 workers associated with the Coastal Services Institute (IMSEL), which as of June 15 will be reinforced with more than 37 people Lhicarsa, reaching the 104 then.
As for the machinery, the device is composed of 42 vehicles, including cleaning machines are nine, eight tractors, seven sweepers, three trucks, 11 vans and two trailers.
Compared with last year, this fleet has increased with three new sweepers, tractor and cleaning machine.
As you may recall the Municipal Institute of Coastal has three locations from which covers all the beaches and are located in La Manga, Isla Plana and grandchildren.
All this huge device is dedicated to fine-tune the beaches until the beginning of the season with tasks such as cleaning footbaths, placement of bridges, removal of weeds, ie, all tasks that allow us to continue being the town with more distinctions quality by the state of its beaches.
Also remember that last September, The European Foundation for Environmental Education congratulated the City for the work carried out on the beaches of the municipality, after an inspection of them in full summer season.
In particular foundation inspectors visited the beaches of Mar de Cristal, Levante-Cabo de Palos, Cala Cortina, Cala del Pino, Islas Menores and Playa Honda Cavanna, and acknowledged the ongoing effort has been conducting the session to improve and provide you with the best possible service, as well as its emphasis on raising awareness and educating for a sustainable and rational use of beaches.
The mayor stressed that the work of the City Council is focused on continuing to offer the best services and quality beaches as the sun and beach tourism is one of the greatest assets of Cartagena.
The municipality of Cartagena told this summer with seven blue flag beaches and ten Q quality.
According to Barreiro, the goal for this season is to extend the blue flags on the west side of town, once it has settled the status of wastewater treatment with the new treatment plant.
Blue Flag beaches were Mar de Cristal, Levante-Cabo de Palos, Cala Cortina, Cala del Pino, Islas Menores and Playa Honda Cavanna, while the obtained quality Q Cala Cortina, Minor Outlying Islands, Playa Honda, Sea Cristal, Cala del Pino, Cavanna Beach, Playa del Barco Perdido, Galúa Beach, Playa de Levante and Playa de la Gola.
This device cleaning and maintenance will be supplemented with all the safety and rescue from June.
