The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the Minister of Health, María Ángeles Palacios, have laid the foundation stone for the construction of the new primary care center of La Palma, which may serve about 8,000 people.
Barreiro has stressed that this office, it was something demanded by the residents, will have as its key feature of future expectations and growth.
It underlined that the center will present the 4,612 residents but if necessary they could serve up to 8,000 people, with an extension when needed.
The center will rise next to the old office, which continues operating until the new openness of it.
The mayor reported that the center will cover an area of 507 sq meters distributed on one floor and will have three family medicine clinics, a nursing consultation, other priests and other pediatric, 5 lounges two adults and pediatrics.
He has also reported that have two focus areas, one for the disabled.
In addition, the center will also feature a lounge and meeting rooms, two public toilets and two for staff and a waste storage.
Barreiro has stressed that the project shall include air conditioning and data network throughout the building, which will allow the use of computerized medical record.
This internal computer network connects all departments together and with other healthcare facilities.
The new primary care clinic, located on Calle Manuel Bobadilla, will be built, Palacios reported in municipal land of 577 square meters and that the budget allocation has been about 444,459 euros.
