With the scale of 70 cruises to Cartagena, a total of one hundred thousand tourists come along in 2010.
The port will have an increase of nearly thirty thousand people, compared to 2009, and are 38 businesses that join this Third Edition of Commerce Friends of the Cruise.
This increase is due to the positive collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce, the Port Authority and the city of Cartagena, who have come together to meet the demands of tourism.
Today the Councillor of Tourism of the City of Cartagena, Javier Herrero, along with the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Miguel Martinez, the chairman of the Port Authority, Adrian Angel widow, and the president of the Centro Comercial Abierto de Cartagena, Antonio Sánchez, have submitted to the Chamber of Commerce's 2010 campaign Friends of the Cruise distinctive which is aimed at promoting cruise tourism attention to reaching the port city.
Traders consider joining this campaign is a challenge worth the gamble and believe that they have been flexible with regard to the needs of tourists, explained Antonio Sánchez.
He has also stressed that the offer of the 38 stores open, each time there is a cruise to the city, the demand is covered.
Viudes has called Friends of the Cruise as a happy combination of good coordination and model to export, as the city of Cartagena impress other cities as Huelva, Tarragona and Almeria.
The Port Authority Chairman recalled that the average expenditure per tourist is 40 euros and in Cartagena, tourists spend only 19 euros per person.
However, widows has reiterated that the average expenditure for the year 2011, will be 60 euros per tourist.
That means 60 million euros to be shared between businesses.
Smith emphasized that tourists are greeted at the foot of stairs and are offered a city map with all shops and schools open interpretation.
Furthermore, she added that they have a phone list of contacts to be served by hostesses in situ.
He has also pointed out that the shops will be open daily (or half-day holiday) to reach the cruise port.
Coinciding with this presentation today by signing up at the port of Cartagena the Oceana cruise with 2,000 passengers on board.
This cruise is scheduled to return to Cartagena in about eight days with 2.00 other tourists.
After the presentation, questions from reporters, Viudes explained that the project The Gorguel be forwarded to the Ministry of Environment and later, if approved, to Brussels.
