The Cartagena Jose Leon, 25, has been elected secretary general of the Union of Communist Youth of Spain (UJCE) at the XI Congress that the organization held last weekend in Casarrubuelos (Madrid).
Leon, who has been endorsed by the 21-member central committee of the UJCE, previously chosen by 83 percent of the 237 delegates who attended the meeting, will hold this new position over the next three years.
Among its objectives, highlighted the creation of a movement "fighting" to defend the interests of young people and fight against insecurity, unemployment and the effects of economic crisis in their ranks.
With this choice, Leon becomes the third Murcia at the head of the youth wing of the Communist Party (PCE) of the last four people who have held this position after Val and Raúl Gómez Rocío.
During the conference reaffirmed the commitment of the Youth in the reestablishment of the United Left, the integration of young communists in the organization and promotion of solidarity with countries such as Palestine, Cuba and the Sahara.
Along with Leon, the new central committee of the PCE is another Cartagena, Francisco Vigueras.
