The Department of Infrastructure last these days the contract specifications for the installation of artificial turf in the median Feringa Sebastian Avenue, in the section between the school near the Rambla and the rotunda of the climb to Tentegorra.
As pointed out by Councillor for Infrastructure and Services, José Vicente Albaladejo, it is a measure that has already been successfully undertaken in other cities in our area and will make a substantial improvement from the image point of the avenue and savings in their maintenance.
The Department of Parks and Gardens has designed the placement of this type of material that simulates very well in terms of appearance to natural grass in an area of 3,300 square meters, with a budget of around € 90,000.
Its durability, according to the suppliers, can reach 15 years, so maintenance tasks are reduced to periodic cleaning by blowing.
For years the City has tried to improve the appearance of this medium in one of the entrances to the city by planting native species, but the weather conditions, with excessive sun, water scarcity and the step, few meters deep, about the main supply lines of the Commonwealth Water Taibilla has prevented an adequate solution.
In fact the City already has the authorization of the Commonwealth to carry out this initiative, which among other things prevent the medium used for parking.
The placement of artificial turf coexist with palm trees and existing natural bush, which will be irrigated by drip.
As pointed out by the council once they verify the success of this measure could be extended to other green areas in the municipality.
