The project to restore the Roman Theatre in Cartagena has been lauded in this year's European Price for Cultural Heritage.

The action taken for recovery and value of this monumental archaeological site has been selected along with 29 others, among the 140 projects submitted to this call.
Their recognition has been made within the category, rehabilitation, restoration and conservation of European cultural heritage, which got a degree to 16 finalists, among whom were the Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (Segovia) and the Church of the Nuns in Ecija, in Spain.
The project of the Roman Theatre in Cartagena, led by architect Rafael Moneo, has been praised by the judges taking their integration into the urban fabric of the city, the recovery of the monument and the construction of a unique museum.
Of the 16 finalists in this category, on 10 June in Istanbul will choose the winner of the Grand Prix.
