Dance programming houses Murcia Auditorium on Friday March 26 at 20:30 hours, the performance of the play Fuenteovejuna, inspired by the novel by Lope de Vega, by the Ballet of Antonio Gades, under the artistic direction of Stella Araujo.
The work will be performed by more than twenty artists, dancers, singers and guitarists.
Tickets for this classic dance cost between 25 and 20 Euros.
Fuenteovejuna is without doubt one of the great ballets of the twentieth century.
No wonder then that since the company's own Antonio Gades, reunited for the occasion, the premiere at the Opera in Genoa in December 1994, its brief history has been filled with unanimous acclaim, as exciting tour as he did, out of sheer generosity, the length and breadth of his beloved Cuba, and national and international awards.
The same fate later, early in the new millennium, the replacement carried out by the National Ballet of Spain, then led by Andrés Elvira, his former company dancer and choreographer great collaborator.
Now, unfortunately, he is not and to supervise the work or are in the panorama of the XXI century, many choreographers willing or able to follow his teachings.
So we should thank infinitely to the Fundación Antonio Gades who has taken up the challenge, not only of preserving archaeological-something so easy in the video era, this jewel of Spanish choreographic heritage, but, meeting with great effort many of artists who had the privilege of working with the Master, trying to breathe new life into Fuenteovejuna.
The main roles will be borne by Cristina Carnero (Lucretia), Angel Gil (Leafy), Adrián Galia (mayor), and Joaquín Mulero (commander).
The director, Stella Araujo, Antonio Gades worked for 17 years, debuting in the role of mother in Blood Wedding.
Later, she starred in Carmen and Fire.
