40 experts from 10 countries
40 experts from 10 countries tested a new system for collecting and analyzing information on remote maritime scenarios to improve international maritime safety.
Virtual exercise 'MNE-6', will take place at the premises of the headquarters of the Maritime Action Force in Cartagena from 22 to 26 March in its first phase, and from 26 to 30 April, in the second.
The 'MNE-6' will implement a new system of concepts, processes and technologies for knowledge of the marine environment in waters far from shore.
The system, with the collaboration of military and civilian agencies, collects information from various sources, on a distant maritime scenario of common interest, processes, analyzes and distributes the acquired knowledge to the participating agencies.
The new system, called 'Knowledge Multinational Inter-Agency on the Marine Environment Remote Scenarios' has been developed by a multinational working group of Maritime Safety, led by Spain and Finland.
The group began operations in 2008 and is expected to complete later this year.
Constituent countries are: Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Poland, Portugal and the UK.
All of them provide the experts who take part in the 'MNE-6'.
The exercise, which is performed only for computer items, without any actual troop deployment at sea, is to check the operation of technical means for setting the maritime scenario, and the program for the collection, analysis and distribution data that make up the new system.
The first phase of 'MNE-6' will test and training at national and international personnel engaged in system development.
In addition, prepare the main phase of the exercise, which will take place in the same area, between 26 and 30 April.
