These rooms retain the original rifle and are communicated with each other through several archways.
Barreiro recalled that the budget for the implementation of this first phase is 350,000 euros, being Azuche the contractor and architects drafters, and Alberto José Manuel Chacón Ibero.
The mayor added that the work has mainly consisted of the archaeological excavation of these architectural spaces and the adequacy thereof, and generate new access to the Torre del Homenaje, adding an elevator to be located in the old courtyard and statement reception.
The completion of this first phase is referred to throughout April.
Pilar Barreiro has stressed that it is already working in parallel on the second phase, with a budget of 285,000 euros, which corresponds to the addition to the current interpretation center in the history of Cartagena of the new spaces recovered, which will be dedicated to Medieval history of the city, which until now had not been made known to the visitor.
In addition, Barreiro said that the contents of this new museum space will be known as different aspects of Medieval Cartagena, both Islamic and Christian, on the history, urban planning, economics, port or town, and offers visitors a comprehensive explanation about the evolution of this strength since its inception to the present.
