Workshops, visits to museums and literary events for the Women's Day (02/03/2010)

Councillor for Women and Culture has presented a broad program of activities taking place throughout the month of March with the women writers to celebrate their Day, March 8.

Although progress has been made to achieve equality, we must remind society that gender discrimination still exists in Europe has come a long way but there are still countries, especially in the Third World, where the woman is a second-class citizen and see their rights violated, while this is so we must continue commemorating, not celebrating the Day of Women, said the councilor of Women and Culture, Rosario Montero, during the presentation of the activities planned for this celebration during the month March.

The program is a collaboration of various councils, with the participation of the People's University, the Department of Women and the Municipal Archaeological Museum Enrique Escudero de Castro.

Activities will include workshops (Healthy mature, digital photo), the Cyber Café to learn how to surf the net, round tables (Women in college a hundred years later), and Literary Encounters, which this year brings us the Cultural Center of the writers Maria Duenas and Natalia Carbajosa.

Some classics are repeating the course in creative writing given by Espido Freire, which this year will be an intermediate course and guided tours of the Teatro Romano, to which are added as a novelty, visit the Archaeological Museum.

At the last minute, we have also introduced two new activities program, a talk on the prevention of cervical cancer, which will be held on March 16 at 18.30 pm at the Centro Cultural Ramón Alonso Luzzy, and a viewing the moon with telescopes, by professors of astronomy at the Universidad Popular, the end of the Open Day on Wednesday 10 March at the square next to the Cultural Center.

The last appointment of women as actors will be on April 22 with the play 'The Teapot' by Miguel Mihura, Tanit group representing the Office of Women in the Nuevo Teatro Circo, with free admission can be collected at the offices of the Department itself.
