The Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Sotoca Constantine, along with the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, today visited the construction of new school children's ward of the 'Avenue of Canton', which will run for next year 2010 - 2011, and has involved an investment of 1,095,960 euros.
This is a school nursery and primary two lines, which extended to 450 school places in the municipality and representing a total investment of more than three million euros.
Sotoca noted that this new construction "answers the schooling needs of a growing area of town," adding that "the regional government continues in its efforts to strengthen and modernize the network of public schools in the region, even in periods of economic crisis like the present. "
He also thanked the cooperation of the City and support to move forward with educational projects in the municipality.
The new school will have six classrooms and 12 Primary Children, which represents a significant expansion of educational places in the area.
The new location provides, in addition, fitness room, multipurpose room and several auxiliary facilities.
Cartagena currently has 50 centers and Primary Education, Secondary Education 15 institutes, a IESO as well as 14 private institutions of general education and two vocational training.
In total, there are enrolled in compulsory education a total of 31,914 students in the municipality.
