Improving quality and efficiency of service that agents of public security forces provide citizens, is one of the objectives which the government team set up, a year ago, the School of Public Safety of the City of Cartagena (ESPAC) under the Department of Public Safety, and in 2009 it has doubled the number of training courses for local police, firefighters and civil protection officials, from 41 courses in 2008, before the creation of School , 74 courses last year, with the school running.

And precisely the course that is recorded editions of Social Skills, which has spent the entire staff of the local police and aims to iron out differences between officers and citizens during the course of the work carried out first, in many cases result in uncomfortable situations where you have to flaunt more diplomacy.

This is one of the data extracted from the Activity Report 2009 of the Espace, which have submitted this morning by Councillor for Citizen Security, Javier Herrero, and director of the School of Public Security, Antonio García Ruiz, who have made a very positive and satisfactory progress of the school, which is dedicated, in its various aspects, both the specific training of law enforcement officials, reaching a total of 2,315 students, as training in field of road safety education in conjunction with schools.

More and better training and development of security personnel will in turn improve the service provided to citizens, is what was intended and is therefore assured Javier Herrero.

The council also recalled the commitment of the City Council in this area with ongoing construction of a new building in the Security Park, the facilities will host the ESPAC, works that are expected to be completed during the second half of this year, entering operational next year.

TRAINING AT THREE LEVELS

The training offered by ESPAC is divided into three plots: the training given to staff members who recently passed his opposition, consisting of 1,000 hours of theory and practice over a year; specific dune building, with which attempt to teach specific skills (in terms of traffic, domestic violence, family violence, etc..), and the retraining or updating of knowledge already acquired.
