The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, today inaugurated the new laboratory for testing solar modules, solar thermal and photovoltaic modules of Technology Center for Energy and Environment (CETENMA) to support R & D + i in this sector.
This laboratory, located on the premises of the European Business and Innovation Cartagena (CEEIC), it will help companies and research groups conduct tests and characterizations of radiation in different environmental conditions, ensuring that these solar modules meet performance are foreseen in the design stage.
"Also, the data obtained will be used to incorporate new components or making design modifications to the final products, making them more competitive and to meet all market requirements," said Marin.
To perform these tests of radiation, solar modules are placed in a room located on the roof of the building, while the rest of the tests developed in the laboratory with controlled atmosphere and with the appropriate measuring equipment.
In addition, this laboratory support for R + D + i also allows tests to analyze the performance of any consumer or producer of computer power
The launch and expansion of the test and development of solar use, the CETENMA has had a budget of 75,627 euro provided by the Department (60 percent), the Instituto de Fomento (12.5 percent) and own center.
"The Ministry is undertaking a major collaborative effort with the technology centers to provide them with the necessary infrastructure to provide quality services to the regional industrial fabric in order to achieve greater competitiveness through areas that offer added value and innovation.
In addition, this type of infrastructure contributes to the development of the productive system based on the collaboration of companies, universities and technology centers and research, "said the counselor.
Also, the Technology Center for Energy and Environment is working on obtaining appropriate accreditation for testing thermal solar modules according to European standards UNE-EN 12975 and UNE-EN 12976, in order to become in the second national body established for such trials.
It has also signed a cooperation agreement with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena in R + D + i for the development of this new laboratory and joint projects with companies.
Tenth anniversary of CETENMA
The opening of this new laboratory coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Technology Center for Energy and Environment since its inception has made more than 40 projects of R & D in collaboration with companies and universities.
CETENMA At present it has 48 member companies and their career has provided technology services to more than 80 organizations in the field of integrated waste management in the sustainable use of water resources, as well as renewable energy and efficiency and energy saving.
The center is equipped with infrastructure for the sustainable management of water resources, for which it has received, in this section, with several pilot plants to test service companies.
On the other hand, is expected this year the launch of a new laboratory for energy recovery of materials, products and waste.
