Neighbours Old Town Cartagena premiere new Health Centre, which is designed to provide health care to a population of 25,000 people.
The Minister of Health, María Ángeles Palacios, along with the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, today inaugurated the premises.
The center was built on a lot valued at 106,980 euros donated by the City Council, and its construction and equipping the Ministry of Health has invested 4.3 million euros.
The building has an area of 3,203 square meters, of which 2,449 are useful, distributed in a basement and four floors and is situated at the confluence of the street Cuesta del Maestro French, Adarve and San Vicente.
The new Health Centre is enhanced healthcare provision over the old with the addition of a dental office, dental hygienist and a minor surgery room.
It also has 12 family medicine clinics, two of Pediatrics, 12 nurses, with a specific child, a midwife, extraction room, an office for social workers and 20 modules waiting rooms and areas management, staff, services and technical support.
Cartagena Old Town offers the Child Care Program and Maternal Education Services, Preparation for Childbirth and Family Planning.
The infrastructure also includes data network throughout the building, which enables the use of computerized medical record, and its connection with other healthcare facilities.
Moreover, as the minister, "the center has been equipped with modern and quality framework that will enable professionals to develop their work in optimum conditions, always thinking about the benefit of all users."
Health Center Old Town also has enough room for actions of promotion and health education to the population, as well as staff training.
Basic Health Zone No. 34, Old Town Cartagena, belongs to the Health Area II of Cartagena.
