The Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, this morning presented the exhibition 'The modernist adventure in the collections of the National Art Museum of Catalonia ", which opens this evening (at 20:00) and remain in Regional Museum of Modern Art, Cartagena (Muram) until 25 April.
The presentation was attended by the director of Muram, Natalia Grau, the regional director of Caixa Catalunya, Antonio Alcalá, the senior vice president of External Relations and Activity and the National Museum of Catalan Art (MNAC), Damian Martinez, and the curator of the shows, Mercè Donat.
The exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Caixa Catalunya, presents 90 works, including paintings, furniture, sculptures, drawings, posters and decorative arts, which present an overall picture of modernism as a movement of global transformation of culture.
Ujaldón emphasized the importance of the exhibition, because "we want the Regional Museum of Modern Art is a landmark in modern art and the modernist movement in particular."
"Cartagena has a spectacular modernist legacy we want to show the public" so he continued, "this museum is the beginning of the path of knowledge of the Cartagena modernist influences and this shows that artistic tradition," he said.
The sample contains the most important parts of this movement names such as houses, Rusiñol, Novell, Mir, Homar, Busquets, Bay, Arnau Puig, Llimona Busquets and brothers, among others.
This encompasses the richness of these artists in tune with international art of the moment: from the cosmopolitan and modern impressionist, through the symbolism and the assimilation of impressionism decorative art without forgetting that invaded the spaces of everyday life through utilitarian objects.
The exhibition is divided into the following sections: 'The Symbolist painting and idealistic', 'Novell and Mir, two unique artists',' Decorative Arts', 'Gaud', 'The pictorial renewal', 'The sculptural symbolism' and ' advertising art. "
The exhibited works come from the bottom of the National Art Museum of Catalonia and has been transferred temporarily to the Caixa Catalunya's Social Work, who performed the exhibition in collaboration with the Ministry.
