A total of 4,174 students have done placements since the inception of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, a very significant figure reflects the interest of companies to have students studying in the UPCT.
Internships represent an opportunity for students to approach the business reality and to apply what they learn in the classroom, and develop relational skills and professional as teamwork, communication with clients and colleagues or problem solving, as highlights the Vice Chancellor for Student and University Extension, Francisco Martínez.
The university officials added: "The practices enable you to acquire professional experience as defendant companies need to find their first job."
The profile of the companies that host trainees is very diverse, although the most popular sectors are Industry, Agriculture, Information Technology and Services.
Among the many companies in recent years have hired interns from the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena stand as an example Navantia, Repsol, Sabic, Cajamurcia, Hero, SAES, Emurtel or Inforges.
During the past year 2009, a total of 389 students have done internships UPCT extracurricular undertakings.
One hundred of them have obtained the aid through the Educational Cooperation Agreement between the UPCT, the CROEM and the Employment Service and Training (SEFCARM) to facilitate the practice of senior students of University Education in companies in the Region Murcia.
In recent years there has been a steady increase in applications for students interested in this type of practice, as they themselves say it is an ideal platform to begin your career.
The amount of these varies between 345 euros and 1,250 euros, depending on the hours worked.
The average of a hundred scholarships awarded is 940 euros.
Students beneficiaries are under 30 years and have exceeded fifty percent of the credits of their degree.
The completion of the internship is voluntary and has no function outside work.
The duration of the traineeship in the company between 100 and 750 hours at a rate of between three and eight hours a day.
