Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, and the president of the Astronomical Association of Cartagena, José Bonet, have discovered this morning a plaque in honor of the famous sailor and astronomer Jorge Juan, on the occasion of the celebration in 2009 that just as the International Year of Astronomy.
During the ceremony took place a reminder that from the Astronomical Association of Cartagena is considered a forerunner of this science in our city, because during your stay at your destination as a sailor in Cartagena, liked to watch the stars through a telescope.
The plaque in honor of Jorge Juan is one of the benches in the garden located on the street of the same name, opposite the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena.
