St. James Parish in Cartagena, save, and commemorates the glorious and ancient tradition "that ensures that the Apostle James, when arriving in Spain, landed on the beaches of Cartagena, the starting point for evangelization in the Hispanic lands (so evidenced by the inscription, preserved in the Temple: "HOC LOCO EX LUX EVANGELICAL Hispaniae Fuit ORTA).
Therefore, coinciding with the Jacobean Holy Year, to be held from 31 December 2009 to December 31, 2010 in Santiago de Compostela, was awarded a Jubilee Time coincident in time with the Jacobean Holy Year and linked to the parish, as custodian of this venerable tradition, and enriched with indulgences granted by Pope Benedict XVI.
The opening of the Jacobean Holy Year will take place on Saturday January 2, 2010.
Be held in the Parish of St. James of Santa Lucia in Cartagena.
This event will start at seven o'clock in the afternoon.
First there will be a seasonal event in the Basin of Santiago.
Then pray the Litany be directed to the parish of Santa Lucia, where he will celebrate Mass presided by Mr.
Bishop Bishop José Manuel Lorca Planes.
The purpose of this jubilee is essentially that, together with the church of Compostela, revitalize the Christian life and to promote the cult of St James, strengthen and publicize this venerable tradition Diocesan, to strengthen our Christian roots and apostolic, and benefit from all the graces that the Church offers us.
Telling us, from this parish for us to be:
• A call to conversion of heart to God.
• A call to listen to the Word of God.
• A look at our past history and future as children of God, under the protection of Santiago.
The main objective is an interior renovation through the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist and charitable action.
The Church, meanwhile, favor us with indulgences.
As we have informed the pastor of this church, in this Jubilee Year of St James plenary indulgence can be gained:
a) In the days when, solemnly opens (January 2) and will close (18 December) Year of St James;
b) On the Feast of St. James the Greater (July 25)
c) In other holidays to be agreed with the consent of the local Ordinary;
d) How often come to the temple as pilgrims in the group because of devotion;
e) A once-daily, when each individual Christian pilgrim to the Temple.
The visit or pilgrimage in groups, whenever possible, will start on the Dock of Santiago, which will host the group and make the first act or the Jubilee station, and then march in procession to the parish where you can celebrate the Eucharist.
