The Youth Council, in response to the urgent appeal from Caritas and the need for food for their soup kitchen, has launched a campaign to collect food, under the slogan 'This image suffer more people than you imagine ', is running from December 1 until January 8 in order to collect nonperishable food for needy families in the municipality.
The chairman of the Youth Council, Manuel Soler, and the head of Caritas Cartagena, Manolita Espiñeira have been in charge of presenting the campaign in which the partners are secondary schools and youth organizations of the town, calling on citizens to show solidarity in these special days with the poor people because, according to Soler, we must all pitch in to try to mitigate these dramatic situations that we must address together.
To date, in the two weeks that has been running this initiative have been collected and 400 liters of milk, 100 liters of oil, 100 boxes of cookies and muffins, 60 liters of juice, 50 kilos of cocoa and 50 boxes of breakfast cereals , staples that are the most popular, serving as a collection point Youth Resource Center.
Today, Caritas Social Centre in Plaza del Lago serves children, youth and families with 50 children who eat in the dining room every day for children and youth groups who are organizing educational activities for reinforcement.
In addition to the food collection campaign, we must remember that there are also launching a campaign to collect new toys, both from the City (you have already collected 400 toys) and from Caritas (these are included in the parish of San Diego ), so that no child is left without a gift this Christmas.
