The group of divers from the Fire Department of Cartagena, participated on Thursday December 10 in an exercise under the sea rescue in confined spaces conducted jointly with members of the Army Emergency Unit (UME) and the Group of Underwater Activities Civil Guard (GEAS).
Practices that developed in the Cueva del Lago or the Arch in Cabo Tiñoso, involved in the rescue of a diver, to access the area of the lake, falls producing a series of injuries.
In the simulation, rescue groups came to their location, detention and removal of the cave, flooded by a lake that reaches up to 12 feet deep in some places and covered by a multitude of galleries.
The implementation of this practice arises because of the high risk involved in this cave that is an accident, as all diving clubs in the area have this dip in their routes and have expressed concern about the high probability of occurrence a fall resulting in injury.
REAL RESCUE IN THE LIGHT OF CHRISTMAS
Last Saturday, members of the Cartagena Fire Rescue assisted in the body of a diver drowned in the Faro area of Christmas, which apparently disappeared in the dock where he was repairing Espalmador about anchoring a boat .
The underwater rescue team was asked to search the area until they found the victim, between the pontoons 2 and 3, about six feet deep.
Once out of the water, the coroner and the Civil Guard continued the proceedings.
