The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, today received the Golden Keys of Cartagena de Indias from the hands of the Colombian city mayor, Judith Pinedo, during the first visit on the trip organized to prepare the festival La Mar de music that will have Colombia as a guest in his 2010 edition.
Barreiro thanked the mayor's welcome Pinedo has been carried out by the Spanish delegation on the town with which Cartagena is twinned in 1983.
Previously, the two mayors held a meeting in which, in addition to studying ways to support the festival, discussed issues of common concern to both cities and agreed to create a virtual forum that will help the sharing of experiences and projects in the recovery and cultural heritage tourism management.
This initiative is part of an overall agreement that the highest authorities of the two cities signed with the intention of extending this partnership to other areas of cultural cooperation, social and economic.
Barreiro has shared with the mayor Pinedo the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Cultural Market, which, remember, meets for this weekend in Cartagena de Indias to artists, groups and internal specialists in the cultural industry.
The representation of the Festival travels on Monday to Barranquilla to manage participation in La Mar de Músicas carnival in that city, declared by UNESCO "Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity."
Wednesday will travel to Bogota to meet with officials from the ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs, as well as municipal officials.
