The proposed adaptation works ARQUA museum environment and the Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Cartagena, has received the green light today by the Local Government Board, it is foreseen that, after contracting and bidding, said shortly begin proceedings and, after the summer of 2010, are terminated, along with the works of the Auditorium.
The environmental project has been jointly drafted by the architects architects of buildings and the Auditorium Arqua, Vázquez Consuegra and Selgas, respectively, with a complementary design but not homogeneous, as noted by the deputy spokesman of the government team José Vicente Albaladejo, who stressed that a continuation of the promenade, but with a different appearance than today.
The project involves the setting of Arqua is paved with basalt stones, while the auditorium will be paved with pine tables specially treated to withstand the marine environment.
There will also be an area of road traffic between the two buildings, plant floor, consisting of a grid on which a species of grass grow.
Palm trees, pines, ficus, playgrounds and street furniture, complete this action.
The budget execution of these works is around 4 million euros, of which 1 million came from a grant from the Ministry of Culture and 400,000 euros are contribution of the Port Authority, for the latter to works to be carried out between the area buildings and the cliff of the port, which is owned by that entity.
The remaining budget is provided by the City Council, we must remember that assumes the execution of these works at the request of the Ministry of Culture.
