The Minister of Public Works and Territory Management, José Ballesta, has laid the first stone that begins works to improve highway links La Manga del Mar Menor, in the stretch to the Blessed EMTREE Cape Palos.
The action affects nine intersections and has an investment of more than two million euros.
This project will provide a major improvement in road safety as this road is annually handling more than nine million vehicles arriving daily record of 65,000 passing vehicles.
The Councillor for Infrastructure, Transport, Works and Projects in Cartagena, José Vicente Albaladejo, stressed the importance of this action that complements others, such as the construction of roundabouts at the Gran Vía de La Manga, which will bring additional traffic flow, especially in summer.
The Minister recalled that the Highway of La Manga was the first road in the region split at the end of the 80 and has explained that the project now runs will focus on giving a greater length to the rails of incorporation, required by significant increase in the flow of vehicles in these two decades.
New roundabouts will be constructed and upgraded the firm and lighting.
Juan Jose Guijarro, Director General of Highways, said that the works are carried out within ten months, and try to affect as little as possible, starting to run in Cabo de Palos.
