Cartagena city buses and the lines that connect the municipality with others in the region will be free for every Sunday of the month of December thanks to campaign 'eldíade', launched by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, to through the Public Transport Authority, and the city of Cartagena.
As explained Councillor for Infrastructure and Transport, José Vicente Albaladejo, this is the second year takes place in our town.
Last year benefited from this initiative about 28,000 travelers.
In particular, bus lines, recorded some 10,344 passengers, representing an increase of 4.3 percent from the users who used this transport for those same days in 2007.
Higher incidence was as trunk lines, which reached record during the five Sundays of December 2008, 17,433 passengers, an increase over 2007 of 6 percent.
The objectives of this campaign is the promote the use of public transport, get less traffic congestion and reduce environmental and noise pollution.
The days on which citizens can enjoy free bus will be on Sunday 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th December.
