The city of Cartagena is in addition to the celebration of International Day for Violence against Women, with a series of events and activities dedicated to women who are held every year on 25 November.
This day commemorates all the women who have died because of violence, showing the effort and commitment of society in its fight to eradicate this phenomenon, which is present in all corners of the world.
Among the actions undertaken, there has been reading a manifesto at the Palace Hall, in charge of the president of the Association of Women against violence, María Dolores Alcaraz, accompanied by the Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, Socialist spokesman Charity Rives, and various personalities from the worlds of politics and associations.
The manifesto has been emphasized values such as tolerance, solidarity, equity and justice, necessary to combat this scourge, which has killed 55 women this year in the Spanish territory.
But above all, human dignity highlighted as one of the core values needed in this society.
Notably phrases such as 'gender-based violence is the most cruel of the attacks and the worst expressions of human dignity', have staged reading.
Councilwoman Montero Rosario has emphasized that while a single victim who suffers abuse or see their dignity attack, we will fight this violence around the world.
Although society is becoming increasingly concerned, follow progress through measures safer and more effective, especially those women of different nationalities have not yet dare to report.
The councilor noted that at present, the shelters in the municipality have two women who have been mistreated.
