The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, announced today that the Roman Theatre in Cartagena is now the most visited museum space in the region, and one of the most important in Spain thanks to more than 200,000 visitors since its opening received In July 2008, 120,000 of them in the first ten months of this year.
Valcárcel has presided over the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Roman Theatre of Cartagena, which also attended by among others, the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the president of the Fundación Caja Murcia, Carlos Egea.
This meeting has noticed the smooth running of the museum, since the public opening of the new exhibition center has provided an important boost for the tourist promotion of the city of Cartagena and the entire region.
The museum, visited by citizens of virtually all the Spanish provinces, is also a destination and focus of a significant number of students and scholars in History, Art History, Archaeology and Architecture, among other disciplines.
Between visits to tourist and cultural promotion has received the Roman Theatre this year, significant emphasis that took place on the occasion of the celebration in Cartagena of events such as the Med Cup and the General Assembly of the Association of Ports Mediterranean cruises (MedCruise).
To attract more visitors, the Roman Theatre will continue to work over the next year to increase its national and international levels, and continue the preservation and maintenance of the monument.
Roman Theater Foundation also pay particular attention in 2010 to its Center of Studies.
Among other initiatives, will publish the proceedings of International Symposium on facades Theaters Performing Romans, held this year in Cartagena, which will serve to disseminate scientific research about the stage set of Cartagena, and other theaters around the Mediterranean .

CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
The Museum has made this year, and with other institutions, a large number of cultural activities such as musical concerts and exhibitions.
Similarly, in collaboration with the Department of Education of the City of Cartagena, school workshops with the title "Building the Roman city.

The center also has been implicated in various events that have taken place this summer in the city, from the literary cycle La Mar de Letras, which hosted several sessions in the hall, other activities related to the Med Cup or Carthaginians and Romans parties, which were open days for visitors.

The city rediscovered ", which opened on November 2, shows for the first time the results of recent archaeological excavations in Cartagena Windlass Hill, covered by the Archaeological Park project in the area.
