The Department of Social Services, through the Municipal Institute of Social Services, has launched the Workshops for the Promotion of Immigrant Women, part of the Project of the Intercultural Center, developed in the centers of Los Dolores and located in the Casco Antiguo.
These workshops are places where the group dynamics that are made are intended to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be able to operate autonomously in the host society.
The workshop content is about the Spanish educational system, the Spanish Health and existing municipal resources, working with different content can be grouped into three sections:
Classes for the development and promotion: social relationships, knowledge of the neighborhood, health system, education system, vocabulary, etc.
Workshops and specific courses, with particular emphasis on women's health workshops that are taught in both schools in collaboration with the Health Centres of the two neighborhoods.
Socio-cultural activities: cinema-forum, discussions, retreats, celebration of Women's Day, visiting places characteristic of the city.
The recipients were 25 women and young families who attend intercultural centers residents in neighborhoods where the centers are located.
The schedule of workshops at 9:30 and 11:00 hours in both intercultural centers.
In Los Dolores Street in San Juan de Nepomuceno No. 14, Monday and Tuesday and in the Old Town street Gisbert, building The Graduate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
A PROJECT FOR INTEGRATION
The project of the Social Service Department of the City of Cartagena of the Intercultural Center for young immigrants, aged between 11 and 16 who live in neighborhoods where the centers are located in Los Dolores and the Old Town , which are developed through the month of June.
In schools, a workshop of leisure for young people, where activities under the framework of multiculturalism, with diverse activities such as cinema-forum, recycling, intercultural dynamics, musical workshops, social skills, habits workshop healthy, talks, outings, celebration of significant days, among others.
This project Intercultural Center Municipal Institute of Social Services includes the following objectives:
- Promoting intercultural harmony among young of different origins.
- Promoting values based on coexistence and solidarity, which are opposed to any form of racism and xenophobia.
- Enable the approach to different cultural realities in our society.
- Provide alternatives for the responsible use of leisure time.
- Create opportunities for dialogue among the young people of families attending the center.
