The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has been responsible deinaugurar, officially, the eighth edition of the Medieval Market, located in the old city, which organizes the city of Cartagena, through the Department of Social Care and the Institute Municipal Social Services, and whose 'doors' will remain open until Sunday 15 November.
Thanks to the great public acceptance of other municipalities that have this activity, we held a year, but due to the economic situation we have carried out an austerity plan in the budget, said the mayor, who has highlighted continuing the need for activities to revive the historical district, targeting all age groups, although this issue, we have given special attention to children, with performances to be held at the Plaza del Lago and other downtown streets.
During this weekend, will develop various actions, such as parades, shows, birds of prey, entertainment, juggling, acrobatics and jumping stilts, storytelling, fireworks show, the traditional walk of geese and donkeys, among a variety of activities , will fill the Old Town a festive atmosphere for three days.
We seek to revitalize the town, with various activities to introduce us to medieval times, with jugglers, caballelos, women and artisans, said the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, in presenting this new edition, which has received a budget of 13,000 euros.
110 booths will be placed, from all regions, of which 15 are craftsmen of Cartagena, where land will find food, cosmetics, art, candles, among other crafts.
Will be distributed by the Plaza del Lago, Duke Street, Plaza de San Ginés, Smiling Plaza, Calle San Francisco and part of Fourth Street Saints.
Among the novelties of this year, highlights the increasing targeting deactivated smaller squires with a school, playground, activities arc, among others.
Also noteworthy is the placement of a winery, where children will trample the grapes and the wine.
In addition, conduct a performance fabric, which is located in the Boulevard José Hierro, and placed a scenario Smiley Square, medieval music concerts, which will medieval atmosphere to the streets of town.
This event has caused a traffic court from 17 am on Thursday the 12th, with the installation of the medieval market, and will continue until the end of the market on Sunday November 15 evening.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
In the morning, at 12.00 there will be a parade, enlivened by normal stilts, juggling and ball balancing various and birds of prey and a oquero with geese.
At 13.30 hours, will be a show of aerial fabrics.
At 14.15 Show Dinamic, animation, juggling, acrobatics, cyr wheel and jumping stilts.
The evening will begin at 18.00 hours, with a parade, followed at 19.00 hours, a show of birds of prey.
At 19.30 we will develop a show of acrobatics and balances, the uprights, with floor acrobatics, jumping stilts and animation.
From 20.00 hours, will take place on medieval music concerts on stage in the Plaza of Smiley.
Continue, at 20.30 hours, with a show of German wheel, at 21.30 hours, the aerial fabric and 22.30 hours and several shows of fire, by 'Aurum'.
During the three day event will enjoy the smallest of the Caravan of burritos.
