The Department of Education of the City of Cartagena will conduct 65 seminars for the formation of 'social relations Skills' for students in 3 º ESO, during the academic year 2009/2010.

Will be carried out in 17 secondary schools for the Program of Social Skills to be held in the hours of tutoring and where involved 1,500 students in 3 º ESO, has announced the Councillor for Education, Josefa Maroto, in the filing of this action training, one of the most valued by schools.

The seminar consists of 8 sessions of one hour also will be a meeting with tutors and other character information with parents, said the councilor.

The seminars will be taught by a team of instructors with degrees in Psychology, specializing in social skills training and personal development.

Topics will focus mainly on self-esteem, very important to acquire in adolescence, as well as control of emotions and thoughts, how bad times can make happen.

Also, be addressed values such as assertiveness, empathy and relationship with people in the environment, such as friends, parents or teachers.

It will provide practical guidance for students to carry out the program, created by the dedicated team that provides seminars, under the technical direction and editing of the Department of Education.

This course has been revised and corrected in its 4 th edition in order to increase the active and dynamic student body.

This guide we present here is the work of 8 years teaching this seminar with students of 1 º and 3 º ESO, stressed Josefa Maroto.

With this educational program, the Department of Education aims to:

- Contribute to improving the social skills of student (interpersonal, developing assertiveness, control of aggressive responses ...)

- Promote the consolidation of healthy attitudes to their personal development (self improvement, self esteem, living habits ...)

- Acquire techniques to control thought and behavior that will help the adolescent to improve their personal and social development.

- Support the tutorial with pupils adolescents in schools.
