Work on the draft recovery stays on the parapet of the Castle de la Concepcion, which has been conducting Cartagena Puerto de Culturas in recent months have brought to light the medieval rooms were discovered in excavations at the 2003 and will now be visited for tourists.
The reclaimed space shows several interconnecting rooms dotted with loopholes or rifle, that project to the east by drilling some of the paintings from the walls of the fortress.
The first room, which gives access to these rooms, has an approximate area of 35 square meters, and from there, space is distributed in the first room of 120 meters, a second room of 47 meters, a step of about 41 meters and a third of 51 square meters.
In a couple of months is scheduled to end this project by placing a cover over reclaimed rooms and a lift that will replace the ramp to overcome one of the entrances to the castle parapet.
With a budget of 345,000 euros, this action by the Port of Cultures will expand the exhibition space of the Castillo de la Concepción with some outbuildings to the Tower of Homage, increasing more than doubled (from 200 to 500 square meters) and the implementation process which will culminate musealization the creation of the Center for Interpretation of the History of Medieval city and Cartagena.
The drafting and implementation of this project is currently musealization under recruitment, with a period of six months and the budget of 300,000 euros.
These actions add to the package of initiatives launched Cartagena Port of Cultures to expand tourism in the city, among which the adequacy of access to Fort Christmas or the covering of the archaeological sites of the winch.
