The president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, and the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, today visited the refurbishment of the Rambla del Portus in the hamlet of Galifa Cartagena.
The investment amounts to EUR 317,994.92 and is scheduled to work, running and Studies Construcciones, SA (Cyes), completed during the month of November.
This project, part of the Spanish Plan for Stimulating the Economy and Employment, which manages the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine through the CHS, solve the problems caused in the stretch of road E-21, which unites the districts of Quarries and Galifa Cartagena, when rain falls of some importance, which cause traffic courts by flooding the road and the consequent isolation of the nearby villages.
Therefore, this area of Cartagena need an efficient disposal of stormwater through the downstream gully, preventing rain water flooding.
In this sense, the CHS, within their functions in terms of packaging channels, aims to solve the problem, with the recess in the flush of Rambla upstream and the placement of a series of concrete pipe under the road while running walls of concrete and stone breakwater to protect the margins of the wadi.
The wall of the left side of the promenade also serves as protection of the road that goes from the road to a housing stock, whose output is standing signs.
This road is being paved with triple surface treatment, asphalt emulsion ECR-2.
In addition, the CHS is proceeding with land clearing and land clearing, as well demolish the masonry brickwork or clearing the land.
Furthermore, CHS is making an embankment, outlining the slopes, and surface rasanteo coronation and preparation of the seating surface of the road, and a breakwater attached to protection channels.
