Located a boat with two deaths on board (29/10/2009)

A dinghy type vessel with four persons on board, two of whom had died, was located today in the sea about 66 miles (122'2 miles) southeast of Cartagena.

The first news of the presence of the vessel, which was said aboard the small boat were two people, the communication was made by a French oil tanker Sea Rescue, who immediately moved to the area in a helicopter Helimer and a boat Salvamar.

Once the first arrived at the scene of the sighting, found that the skiff had four people, two of them died, while the other two were apparently in poor condition, with symptoms of dehydration and purported to drink seawater.

Because the helicopter had to return to land for refueling, was moved to another place based on Valencia, who proceeded to rescue the two survivors and transport them to Cartagena, landing on the dock 13'15 hours in St. Lucia from where they were taken to the hospital "Nuestra Señora del Rosell."

As for the two deceased were transhipped on board the boat Salvamar, which also moved to the port of Cartagena, where they arrived about 15.30 hours.

Apparently, the occupants of that small boat carried four days at sea and the boat was drifting at the time of being spotted.

Communication in French tanker was talk of a second small boat, so this afternoon Salvage maintained a tracking device and rescue in the area consists of two planes and a tugboat.
