The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, received this morning the president of the Parkinson Association of the region of Cartagena, Fabián Martínez Juárez, in a meeting in which the mayor has given his support to the implementation of the construction project a focal point of this disease in Cartagena.
The president of the Association, Fabián Martínez, expressed his dissatisfaction with the failure to meet deadlines of the project, which was to have begun in 2003 when its construction was agreed by signing an agreement between the City Council, Regional Government and Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
To this end, the City Council gave the Ministry a plot of 9,000 square meters in front of the new General Hospital in St. Lucia.
At a meeting I had with the CEO of Inserso, I promised that this year the work out to tender and would be finished for next year, said Fabian Martinez.
However, the central government has commissioned a feasibility unestudio now analyze the possibility of carrying out the construction of a national center through the award of public works.
The center was approved unanimously by all political parties in the city, so do not understand how not going forward, Fabian Martinez stressed.
The center will become the only National Reference Center of the disease in Spain, where experts in this field may investigate and exchange information with other European centers.
In addition, the project would be completed with the construction of a residence and a day center.
Fabian Martinez recalled that in the association there are 80 people with this disease, which need to be addressed.
