The head of the Environment of UTIs in the Murcia Region, Victoria Rodriguez, have shown today their support for Ecologists in Action, and stressed that "no figures can be fined millions of dollars to some people only trying to preserve the environment."
Rodriguez has relied to open disciplinary proceedings to eight members of that environmental organization, a fine of 480,000 euros, after it carried out a symbolic protest against the building of the Port Authority of Cartagena.
It has also insisted that such measures should be targeted at people who damage the environment, "to those just starting a disciplinary procedure," while he has branded as "arrogant" attitude of the Port Authority.
"It has been shown that the agency president, Adrian Angel widow, has taken a position of dominance in this time and many more, as when prevented Greenpeace vessels docking at the port of Cartagena."
In addition, Rodriguez has said that widows is "the least likely to give lessons in democratic behavior."
She said that the fine for Ecologists in Action exceeds what the company received TradeMe, which was 330,556 euros, irregular treatment of waste, the largest penalty in the history of the Region of Murcia for environmental damage.
"It is disproportionate to the Port Authority is so strict and heavy penalties sponsor environmental advocates, and not dare to push the same criteria for failure of existing legislation on environmental matters."
