The municipal mosquito control crews have doubled and hours of work from the late rains to launch a shock treatment against the proliferation of these insects.
The work has been going on for holidays and weekends, and six operators into three teams are working every day to control mosquito larvae and adults all over the municipality, as reported by Nicolás Ángel Bernal, Councillor of Health.
The fumigation against mosquitoes is done throughout the year, applying larvicide treatments of biological origin by spraying and by means of chemical adulticide spraying and thermal fogging, according to the schedule initially increases to outbreaks and public notices.
In the last month have added two more teams to work and has been increasing adult control if weather conditions permit, because the adulticide treatment is not effective when it rains.
While the current situation is prolonged, the teams will continue to work every day, including holidays.
In the absence of rain both teams will be used against adult mosquitoes and a third will work with larvicides.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The councilman of Health points out that the larvae can grow in standing water anywhere, even in the water with an ashtray that is left outdoors, so the City Council recommends that individuals control the water pools and verify the presence of bagged water in buckets, bins or tools which may have been retained rainwater.
The pest control technician recommends treating or draining pools and cover with untreated water or rain water inside.
Recommended drain and fill buckets, fountains, buckets and anything that can hold rainwater.
It is also recommended spraying private gardens, lawns and hedges, which are common mosquito haven.
