The Directorate General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control Autonomous Region has made a decision by the open file Lhicarsa (municipal company, municipal solid waste collection), due to malfunction of the municipal landfill Regent Mine, following a complaint of ASEAN (Association of Southeastern Naturalist).
The resolution denounced the fact qualify as serious violations and sanctions Lhicarsa a fine of 27,000 Euros.
In the report accompanying the dossier, prepared by the SEPRONA (Department of Nature Protection of the Civil Guard), mentions that on the front of the landfill can find all sorts of objects such as mattresses, washing machines and refrigerators, but they had no signs of having been treated previously in the sorting plant.
Thus, it is in breach of the Environmental Impact Statement.
Moreover, the penalty imposed, 27,000 Euros, is for children who are targeted, although there are complaints about the malfunctioning of the dump for more than three years.
From Cartagena UPyD already shown last July our concern for the poor operation of the landfill, and puzzled by the fact that a landfill is designed to be in service for 15 years, had silted up in only 5.
Now check, after the disciplinary proceedings, that the irregularities persist without significant changes noted in its management, under the Department of Infrastructure of the City of Cartagena.
Therefore turn to apply more control and the adoption of appropriate measures for proper use.
