Between strings and brass, classical music competition for young musicians in the Region of Murcia, which organizes the Youth Council with the Music Conservatory of Cartagena, this year celebrates its thirteenth edition maintaining its goal of encouraging creative initiatives of young musicians, and the only competition of its kind to be held in our region.
Music is a world open to young people, they must know and we want to support them through this type of action, said the Councillor for Youth, Ruth María Collado, during the presentation ceremony, which falls within the Programme Promotion and Development of Creative Youth Initiatives for the council.
The deadline for entering the competition will be open from 26 October until 18 January, celebrating the two phases of it (a playoff and final) during the months of March and April and close on May 7 with a concert by the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena is elected to accompany the best solo of the last edition of Between Strings and Brass.
The categories covered in this contest are seven: piano, strings, guitar, woodwinds, brass, percussion and vocals, and may participate in the contest students who are pursuing professional studies in music at any of these categories.
As for the age of the participants shall not exceed 25 years in all modes, except Voice, which is 16 to 35 years.
As for the awards, the total economic value amounts to 7,000 euros for each mode establishing a first prize of 700 euros and a second $ 300.
The budget is 49,000 euros, of which 37,000 are input from the Department of Youth and 12,000 euros from the Conservatory.
The deputy director of the Conservatory, César Montalvo, and the manager of the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, Pedro Martínez García, have accompanied the councilor during the launch of the competition and have launched an invitation to young musicians in the region to take the contest to mode of experience in his artistic maturity.
It is noteworthy that the degree of participation increases every year, having exceeded the twelfth edition of the all records with a total of 80 participants from all parts of the region.
PROMOTIONAL CONCERT SERIES
One of the main goals of between strings and brass is to promote young musical talent in the region and, therefore, for the fourth consecutive year it has organized a series of promotional concerts given the chance, the winners of the past edition, to participate as soloist in four concerts with the Chamber Orchestra Professional Cartagena.
These will take place during the months of November and December in Jumilla (first time), Murcia and Cartagena, ending, as mentioned above, with the closing concert on May 7 at the Auditorium of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena .
