The construction of the Museum of Glass Santa Lucia, the project included in Plan E, has a breakthrough during the summer months, already showing the first floor and the structure of the second, and the general profile of the building to recover window of the landmark neighborhood tradition Cartagena.
The ground floor is already built, will house the workshop area, an area of about 240 square meters, and a small exhibition area, about 20 square meters.
As for the top floor, where construction work focus at the moment, will contain the museum's exhibition area, an area of about 100 square meters.
Thus, it achieves a double goal, a modern building that reflects the tradition of such craft, which will continue through the training of students in their shops, thereby incorporating the control of Glass and Glass Factory in St. Lucia , which was one of the most important sector in the second half of the nineteenth century.
Located next to the facilities of the Federation of Neighbourhood Associations of the District of Cartagena, in the old school Virgen del Mar, the Museum of Glass investment is around half a million euros and is expected to complete work before the end of the year.
