Mixed brigades composed of staff of the City of Cartagena and Coastal Authority have started this morning cleaning the beaches of the west bank of the Mar Menor to proceed with the removal of debris swept along the promenade of El Albujón during past floods .
While cleaning and maintenance of the coast began just completed the rains, City Hall and Costas scheduled for this week cleaning the beaches of Punta Brava, Los Urrutias and grandchildren to give more time to give out to sea trawling , as reported by Gabriel Ruiz, director of the Instituto Municipal del Litoral.
The sea has continued depositing reeds, wood and all kinds of waste at a rapid pace these days and a hasty cleaning would have been futile, said Ruiz.
The workers of the institute had previously concentrated its efforts in cleaning the beaches of La Manga, less affected by their distance from the promenade, and replacement and repair work of furniture, traffic lights and rain-affected final.
City officials and the State Coastal Authority have conducted a joint assessment of the damage caused to the beaches and its study has concluded in separate reports on the need to work on the replenishment of sand on the beaches affected by the storm between which also is the Playa de Levante.
Gabriel Ruiz has stated that, as had been originally planned, the work they have started today will have the beaches clean for the long weekend.
Will then have to continue working on the removal of drag because they are very large and continue to come to the beaches during the coming months.
