The Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena, Enrique Escudero de Castro, has scheduled a variety of workshops, exhibitions and conferences to be held during the months of October, November and December.
This programming has been presented by the first deputy mayor, Agustín Guillén and the Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, accompanied by the director of the National Archaeological Museum, Rubí Sanz Gamo, the territorial president of Caja Mediterráneo Murcia, Angel Martinez, the Municipal Archaeological Museum director, Maria Comas.
Among the activities, the exhibition highlights Faces of Rome from the National Archaeological Museum (MAN) and organized by CAM, a sample that includes 32 sculptures of incalculable historical value cutlural providing an overview of the history and art through Roman portrait, said the councilor.
It is structured into three chapters, where you can see portraits, busts, heads, sarcophagi of Alexander the Great, Marco Antonio or Nero, created between the first century BC and third century.
The director of the National Archaeological Museum, Rubí Sanz stressed that thanks to the reforms being carried out at the museum, works of great historical value, from expeditions Tiermes deposits or Merida, or private collections of the Marquis Salamanca, travel through different cities of the country, giving people the chance to admire these pieces.
This exhibition allows us to appreciate the importance of portraiture as an essential element of Roman culture, both to show the image as power, as to convey the lifestyle of society in other classes.
Although at first the sample would remain in town until 29 November, the Councillor for Culture has announced that it extended until January, so we feel very fortunate, because we can extend the visits.
Visiting hours are Tuesday through Friday, from 10.00 hours to 14.00 hours and 17.00 hours to 20.00 hours and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11.00 hours to 14.00 hours.
You have organized a series of parallel events, which begin with a lecture entitled "The Portrait and the memory of man ', to be held Oct. 29 in the CAM, at 20.00 hours, charges of Professor of History Art, Cristóbal Belda.

All these conferences will serve as training for teachers, in collaboration with the CPR of Cartagena.
