A ship with eleven illegal immigrants on board, ten men and a woman, and was headed to the coast of Cartagena was intercepted by a patrol of the Maritime Service of the Guardia Civil, shortly before last midnight.
The operation resulted in the interception was initiated following that on the 23 pm yesterday, the SIVE detect the presence of that vessel, when she was about 7 miles from the coast and was sailing towards the Cabo del Agua in the municipality of Cartagena.
Around 23'55 hours, the Civil Guard patrol boat intercepted the said vessel, small and equipped with a 30-hp motor, on board of which eleven people were traveling, all of Algerian origin, older age and apparent good health.
Among these immigrants was a woman.
Both immigrants and the boat were taken by the Guardia Civil to the port of Cartagena, where the first, after receiving Red Cross assistance were made available to the National Police for the timely processing of records returned to their country of origin.
The government delegate said that until September of this year have come to our shores a total of 364 immigrants on board boats, a 36 percent lower than in 2008, which reached 569 people.
