The City of Cartagena, return the amount of EUR 4.6 million within a couple of years, as measured by the Central Government to postpone the repayment of money the state expects them to municipalities each year by way of participation in national income.
The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, said that the postponement of money is a return, an oversight and a mistake of the government, which has given us the same as last year.
Furthermore, she added, as a result of the crisis, the Local Compact and local funding, we are the municipalities that we have had to take charge of social policies.
The City Council is taking this year to 80% more than last year in aid to families to cover basic expenses for food, housing, pay electric bills or water.
Has shifted from 24,000 euros a month in aid to 46,000 euros.
The mayor has stated we have had to double the amounts allocated to the Social Assistance and we employ about 360,000 euros in aid for basic needs of citizens.
