Councillor for Culture and Women, Rosa Montero, accompanied by the President of the People's University, Miguel Navarro Salinas, this morning the new academic year 2009/2010, which will continue the same schedule as the previous year.
The Sept. 15 start of the period of registration for all courses and workshops, courses other than college access for persons over 25 years, it will be until 7 September.
The training offer is very varied, with morning and afternoon, and covers subjects as broad as cycles of higher level training, languages, new technologies, vocational training and workshops in theater, literature or the environment.
Last year more than 1,050 students participated, with courses to university, training courses, theater, languages and new technologies that are more in demand each year.
Therefore, the Councillor for Culture, Rosa Montero, pointed out we have doubled the number of places in courses for university entrance as well, attending as many students as well as access to higher-level vocational training.
In addition, the president of the People's University has said it will remain the workshops which began last year and have had great success, including courses such as flamenco, guitar, singing and dancing, poetry classroom, astronomy courses and crafts courses.
Councillor for Culture has said that the profile of student attending People's University is mostly women (about 80%) in those aged between 25 and 80 years, except, of theater workshops where young people are the more involved.
