The City of Montánchez, Caceres, has decided to give this year's Award 2009 to Dialogue of Cultures Festival La Mar de Musicas Cartagena each year organized by the Department of Culture, for its outreach to all world cultures through music and artistic and cultural activities.
Dialogue of Cultures Prizes are awarded to individuals and institutions that stand out and promote closer dialogue and understanding of other ways of understanding culture.
The awards are given in the so Montánchez Encounters', which have precisely this profile to present the dialogue of cultures, with special attention to the Arab and Jewish, through lectures, debates, exhibitions and performances.
This is the fourth year that celebrates the 'Walking Montánchez', standing out among the winners in previous editions Federico Mayor Zaragoza, José Monleón, Nuria Espert or Menuhin Foundation.
The award will be presented on the first day of meetings, on August 26 and will be the Councillor for Culture of the City of Cartagena, Rosario Montero, in charge of collecting the distinction at La Mar de Músicas.
