The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, received this morning the president of the Association of Families and Women in Rural Areas (AFAMMER), Carmen English, who has come accompanied by their board of directors.
AFAMMER, which has its regional headquarters in the city of Cartagena, was born in 1991 with only thirty members, and today it already has more than 500 mostly from the Campo de Cartagena, but also from other municipalities as Archena and Totana.
Its main objective is to improve the training of rural women, insisting on equality of opportunity in access to employment.
To do this, take courses demanded by these women, such as geriatric nursing assistant, rural tourism and new technologies.
Its president, Carmen English, has said that its main claim is to get some facilities in line with current needs of the association, have raised a demand that the mayor and has been shown that receptive.
English has also added to the Cartagena area families are living with great concern and uncertainty, the current situation of the agricultural sector.
