The Malaga-born artist Rogelio López Cuenca (Nerja, 1959) participates in the fifteenth edition of the festival La Mar de Músicas within the programming of The Sea of Art.
The artist's exhibition, coordinated by the gallery Murcia T20 and the famous Joan of Aizpuru, opens on Tuesday, July 7 in the Byzantine walls of Cartagena.
In the pieces that make this show López Cuenca uses new media to express their view on the world ironically, by the juxtaposition of images and representation of language games.
Bachelor of arts, the work of Rogelio López Cuenca is marked by a strong political component and represents the most current social problems such as racism and social outcasts.
Through its work, the artist seeks to encourage discussion while demonstrating their commitment to society and his time, questioning the icons and symbols used for power in public spaces, revealing the hidden codes that dominate our existence, and subversion and distortion that we become victims.
The quality of the work of Rogelio López Cuenca endorse the many awards he has received throughout his career, among them Francisco de Goya given by the City of Madrid (2002), the award of Andalusia arts ( 1992) and the Critical Eye Award arts (1992).
Since 1988, he made his first solo show, his career has been unstoppable.
He has exhibited in galleries around the world in numerous group exhibitions in major museums like the Reina Sofia Art Center, the IVAM or collections of the National Library or the Fundación La Caixa.
The show can be from 7 July to 31 August in the Byzantine Wall, located across the street from Dr. Martinez Tapia from the port city.
