In this year's edition of The Sea of Art, with Morocco as the guest, could not miss the photographer Benohoud Hicham (Marrakech, 1968), one of the most outstanding artists and rebels in his country.
In the exhibition that opens at the Cultural Center of Cartagena Ramón Luzzy Monday July 6, can be seen a series of photographs which he breaks with the canons and established behaviors.
"The classroom II" is a series of black and white photographs taken in the classroom of a school during school hours.
Benohoud himself asked the students to interrupt their work to pose for him using class objects, breaking with the established patterns and thus learning a new way to interact with the teacher.
The photographer has already made a first series with the same subject which was published in 2001 by French publisher Loeil, however, this second series is even more radical and transgressive.
With this work, Benohoud makes the body become an object more than utillería.
Comes to paste pieces of cork, paper and plastic cups on his head, giving the photo a surreal character, without constraints of any kind, showing an absolute freedom that is opposed to religious dogmas that prevail in Morocco, making a difficult critique of culture in your country.
The exhibition can be seen in the cultural center Ramon Luzzy 6 July to 31 August.
