The Ministry of Public Works and Planning has tendered contract services for the elaboration of the internal mobility and accessibility to the Valley of tailings, as one of the measures envisaged by the Government Plan to Promote regional economic development this important regional industrial center, which provides a total investment of 257.6 million euros over the next five years.
"Through the Coordinating Group Actions in the Valley of tailings, the regional government is working to promote the development of chemical industrial estate and the most important energy region and one of the largest in the country, which contributes significantly to economic development of the region ", said the adviser, José Ballesta.
This line of action includes the modernization of transport and communications infrastructure, which will boost the efficiency of the transport system as a whole and help to facilitate the development of economic activity in the Valley of tailings, "one of the major energy centers the country, which produces more than ten percent of all energy consumed in Spain ", said the director explained.
The Plan of internal mobility and accessibility will encourage the use of passenger transport, communications with the estate of The Camachos and road safety for pedestrians.
Similarly, and consistent with the measures taken in emergency situations, provided the adequacy of the Emergency Plan Exterior del Valle, conducting an Emergency Plan and the feasibility of a permanent fire station.
As indicated by José Ballesta, "with the development of this plan is to conduct better management of resources, in order to achieve a sustainable and safe mobility to people in the travel industry to work centers within the Valley, ensuring optimum accessibility both routinely and in emergency situation. In addition to the internal mobility plan and accessibility, will proceed to the drafting of the feasibility studies of public transport systems and internal and external authorized to park and ride spaces and pedestrian projects of roads and construction of the Valley bike lanes as an alternative mobility.

The Coordinating Actions in the Valley of tailings was established in February 2008 to define a catalog of actions aimed at meeting the needs arising from industrial activity in the area.
It is chaired by the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and between the members are members of various ministries of the regional government, the City of Cartagena, the Central Government, trade unions UGT and CCOO, Business Association and Escombreras Valley Neighborhood Association, Consumers and Users of Alum.
The wording of the study of mobility, accessibility and security of the valley is included within the nine priority measures incorporated into the Plan of Promotion, of the 43 that make up the four lines of action established by the Coordinating Group Actions in the Valley of tailings.
These lines include urban planning, modernization and development of transport and communications infrastructure, development and promotion of security and the improvement and expansion of urban infrastructure and telecommunications.
