The Governing Council has approved a grant of 574,976 euros to the Roman Theatre in Cartagena Foundation to carry out improvement works and adequacy of access, security and preservation of this space.
The aim is to improve the environment to encourage new readings and presentations of the monument remains embedded and preserved in the museum, and ensure accessibility and safety for the public visit the center.
Among the works to be carried out, supervised by architect Rafael Moneo, include the development and improvement of access to the Museum from the Place de la Condesa de Peralta and Cuesta of Baroness, the facade stabilization work at Cuesta the Baroness and the scenic facade and installation of security protections in the cavea the Roman Theatre.
It also runs a stone wall in the division security frame-scene and made several restorations and reproductions for the museum.
The recovery of the Roman Theatre and the construction of the Museum of Cartagena have consolidated as a national benchmark in terms of cultural and heritage tourism.
